Wall-mounted Air Conditioners
Due to its compact size, the wall-mounted type air conditioner is very versatile, and in turn a popular choice. Being manufactured in the highest numbers, it's also typically the least expensive.
Most of today's wall-mounted air conditioners are heat-pumps, also being capable of energy-efficient heating operation to provide controllable comfort throughout the year.
Discharging conditioned air from its lower front edge, this type air conditioner is designed to be mounted at high level within a room to achieve a good distribution of air throughout. With warm air rising, the wall-mounted air conditioner cools the warmest air within the room, increasing its effectiveness further.
To minimise the visual impact of their high-level positioning, the wall-mounted air conditioner has generally adopted a subtle design, being white in appearance with clean lines and smooth front panel. More recently however, LG have broken this trend with their Artcool range of wall-mounted air conditioners, offering a stylish choice of mirror or brushed stainless front panel finishes and a model that takes on the appearance of a picture frame.
More details of LG's Artcool range can be found here.
Wall mounted air conditioners are typically controlled via an infra-red remote controller and are available with cooling outputs from 2.0kW up to 10kW. They are also a popular choice in computer rooms, where the potential for a water leak to occur makes ceiling-mounted type units unsuitable.
